Lots of climbing – BionicOldGuy

I signed up for the challenge to climb 7,000 m (23,000 ft) for the month of June Strava. The problem is that I only signed up on June 19th. I assumed I had already climbed a lot this month, but I forgot that I don’t climb much alone on the recumbent, so it turned out I only had 2600m under my belt, so I needed another 4400m in the last 11 days of the month. I’ve been looking since then and since yesterday I got another 2277 in, now I need 2076 more in 5 days. Note to self: next time, log in at the beginning of the month!

Last Thursday I drove to the northwest of Morgan Hill on a beautiful day.

Half way up the street, past Andy’s Orchard

On Saturday I meandered southwest on a foggy morning. It didn’t resolve until I was almost home.

As we made our way home along Tennant Avenue, the fog was just burning away

On Tuesday, my group ride started from the Mendoza Ranch parking lot in Harvey Bear County Park. I love this drive on beautiful roads in the hills east of Gilroy. But I haven’t ridden the recumbent bike as far lately due to neck problems, and I don’t have a good way to transport my recumbent bike, so I just rode it to the start. I brought extra batteries just in case and needed all but one since the trip took me over four hours. The good news was that I climbed 723 meters.

Estates Road on the way to Roop Road was steeper than I remembered. This is “Gilroy Horse Country”
