Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh testified before the Senate Banking Committee on Wednesday and faced questions about the economy and how various factors could affect interest rates.
As part of the central bank chief’s congressionally mandated appearances on Capitol Hill, Warsh spoke before the House Financial Services Committee on Tuesday. In his remarks, he reiterated the Fed’s commitment to fighting inflation but gave few clues about the direction of monetary policy.
Lawmakers tried to entice Warsh to comment on fiscal and policy issues, but he largely avoided the topics and emphasized the importance of the Fed remaining focused on its assigned responsibilities.
