Pope Francis ushered in a special anniversary year for Catholics at a ceremony on Christmas Eve in the Vatican.
At the start of the anniversary, the Pope opened the Holy Door in St. Peter’s Basilica, which was otherwise walled up.
Jubilees only occur every 25 years and more than 30 million pilgrims are expected to come to Rome to walk through the doors and ask for forgiveness for their sins.
