Imprisonment of Boualem Sansal: Macron criticizes Algiers
Emmanuel Macron called for the release of French-Algerian writer Boualem Sansal, who sharply attacked Algeria, in a speech during the 30th Ambassadors’ Conference in Paris on Monday.
“I have a unique thought about a freedom fighter, a French-Algerian writer, namely Boualem Sansal. He is being arrested by Algerian officials in a completely arbitrary manner.”explained Emmanuel Macron.
“The Algeria that we love so much, with which we share so many children and history, is caught up in a history that shames it and prevents a seriously ill man from receiving treatment.”continued the French head of state.
“We love the Algerian people and their history and I call on their government to release Boualem Sensal.”emphasized Emmanuel Macron.
