The Fantastic Four: Getting Started
Could the third time be a charm for the Fantastic Four? This is what fans are wondering about this superhero team that seems to be cursed when it comes to film adaptations of their works. In 2005 we got Jessica Alba, Ioan Gruffudd, Michael Chiklis and pre-Captain America Chris Evans as a foursome; Ten years later it was Kate Mara, Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell. For The Fantastic Four: Getting StartedThe cast is undoubtedly impressive: Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic; Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing. But perhaps previous iterations lacked the creative force behind the camera, in this case Matt Shakman, who is better known for his television career directing episodes of game of Thrones, WandaVision, The greatand – most prolific – more than 40 episodes of It’s always sunny in Philadelphiaincluding the fan favorite “The Nightman Cometh.”

The bride!
Like a more independent Greta Gerwig, actress and filmmaker Maggie Gyllenhaal has quietly built an impressive filmography behind the camera. Five years after her second Oscar nomination in 2022 for Best Adapted Screenplay The Prodigal DaughterWith this remake, Gyllenhaal follows up on this film – and jumps on the Universal Monster Movie bandwagon Bride of Frankensteinwhich the author and director wants to give a strong feminist sensibility. The film will reunite Gyllenhaal with Jessie Buckley, for which she received a Best Supporting Actress nomination The Prodigal Daughter and here is the eponymous wife of Frankenstein’s monster, played by Christian Bale – and reuniting Gyllenhaal with her ex Batman Costar. Maggie’s brother Jake and husband Peter Sarsgaard will also appear. However, an official release date for Guillermo del Toros FrankensteinThe film starring Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi and Mia Goth has yet to be announced. It sounds like these two films could make a great mini-marathon.

Would it really be a real film year if we didn’t get at least one absurd comedy from Yorgos Lanthimos? Avatar: Fire and Ash
No matter how much time passes or how much original Avatar seems to be disappearing from the cultural conversation, there’s no denying that James Cameron’s blue people know how to put butts in seats. While it felt like the second film in the series didn’t create much buzz or generate an overwhelming amount of positive buzz upon its release, The path of water Still, it somehow made enough money ($2.3 billion and some change) to secure its place as the third-highest-grossing film of all time – staggering Titanic down to No. 4 and sitting directly below the original Avatar (2009) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). From what we know about the film, the “ashes” in the title refers to a far less kind-hearted group of Na’vi who change everything we know about Pandora.

Peaky Blinders
A year later Oppenheimer (and the Barbenheimer phenomenon) made Cillian Murphy one of the biggest movie stars in the world, the Irish actor is returning to his roots. For more than a decade, Murphy has portrayed gangster-turned-politician Tommy Selby in the historical crime series created by Steven Knight. Peaky Blinders. He will soon reprise the role in Knight’s big-screen version of the series. He will be joined by several familiar faces including Stephen Graham, Sophie Rundle and Paul Anderson, as well as a number of exciting new additions to the cast including Barry Keoghan, Rebecca Ferguson and Tim Roth. However, it’s possible we won’t see the theatrical version of Peaky Blinders It certainly can’t hurt to record our anticipation until the beginning of 2026. Who knows – maybe it can even help?
