Every Premier League club should sign a player in the January transfer window
As football’s festival gives way to the chaos of the January transfer window, Premier League clubs will turn their attention to strengthening their squads.
Whether it’s the title race, European qualification or the fight against relegation, fresh faces can make all the difference.
However, the January market is not easy to navigate.
It often takes a lot of money to attract top talent, and clubs usually look for players who are no longer needed elsewhere.
With that in mind, here is a breakdown of the players each Premier League club could look to to strengthen their squad.
arsenal
Sporty Viktor Gyokeres has been in incredible form with 47 goals in 47 league games since joining from Coventry City in 2023. His hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League demonstrated his quality. He could be the striker Arsenal need to realize their trophy-chasing ambitions.

Central midfield has become a problem for Villa. One option for the Midlands is the promising young player from Sunderland Jobe BellinghamAlternatively, they could look for a winger as Leon Bailey is struggling. Southampton Tyler Dibling would be a good option.
Bournemouth
Defensive reinforcement is essential. They could target Sheffield United Harrison Burrows, Who can play at the back or in midfield?
Brentford
With Rico Henry out, left-back is a priority for the Bees. Sergio Reguilon is a natural left-footer who could provide balance and quality until Henry returns. Morten Frendrup from Genoa is another versatile profile that could fit well into Thomas Frank’s system.
Brighton
Brighton needs to address its defensive weaknesses. Barcelona Andreas Christensen could be a smart addition given his Premier League experience with Chelsea and the fact he has only made one LaLiga appearance this season.
Chelsea

Coach Enzo Maresca has options but the club have shown interest in Ipswich’s 21-year-old striker Liam Delap. At the other end of the pitch, the former Leicester manager could look to recruit a goalkeeper Mads Hermansen from his former club, with Robert Sanchez not being at his best this season.
Crystal Palace
Since Marc Guehi has almost moved on in the summer, Southampton’s Taylor Harwood Bellis would be a sensible deal in the event the England international leaves in the near future. James McAtee Borrowing could be another good deal.
Everton
Goals are Everton’s Achilles heel. Borja SainzThe Championship’s top scorer this season with 15 goals, could provide the firepower they desperately need to climb out of the relegation battle.
Fulham
Fulham could use additional options in attack. Brighton’s Evan Ferguson takes just a few minutes from the south coast but also other destinations such as that of West Brom Josh Maya could also provide valuable attacking depth.

Ipswich town
Goalkeeper Arijanet Muric has had problems and Ipswich can afford no mistakes in the relegation battle. Thomas Kaminski from Luton, who looked solid in the Premier League last season, would be an excellent replacement.
Leicester City
Leicester need defensive stability under Ruud van Nistelrooy and the Foxes head coach could dip into the Dutch market after spending a lot of time in the Eredivisie. Josip Sutalo A move from Ajax could be an option for them.
Liverpool
Arne Slot could find a replacement for Andy Robertson as the Scot has had inconsistent performances this season. Bournemouth Milos Kerkez is a good choice as a left-back.
Manchester City
City’s poor performance has highlighted their need for a defensive midfielder in Rodri’s absence. Real company Martin Zubimendi or Bayern Munich Joshua Kimmichwhose contract expires this summer, could be transformative signings.

Nottingham Forest
Versatility is key for Forest as they strive to finish strong. Protecting Chris Wood is crucial for Nuno Espirito Santo, so a striker – perhaps Spartak Moscow’s Manfred Ugalde – could work, he has scored 15 goals in 18 games this season.
Southampton
The Saints may need to shift their focus to building for a championship. Aston Villa’s Jaden Philogene would be a coup if they could even get him
Tottenham
🚨 NEW: #Tottenham I don’t rule out moving up for Johnny Cardoso in January.
Real Betis need around 20 million in transfer winnings and Cardoso is seen as someone who can help with that and could therefore move in January. @samuelsonsilva 🥇 pic.twitter.com/idDkiB2hY7
