Former US President Jimmy Carter was praised on Sunday by his followers, supporters and admirers around the world as a humanitarian and champion of justice after the news of his death.
“Our founder, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, passed away this afternoon in Plains, Georgia,” the Carter Center said in a statement announcing his death on the social media platform X. He died peacefully surrounded by his family.
Condolences soon poured in after the announcement.
