Croatia’s President Milanovic is running against the ruling party’s candidate

The left-leaning Croatian president, an outspoken critic of the West’s military support for Ukraine in the war against Russia, is running for re-election in the Adriatic nation but is unlikely to win an absolute majority in the first round of voting on Sunday. President Zoran Milanović, often compared to Donald Trump for his combative communication style with political opponents, faces seven other candidates, including Dragan Primorac, the candidate of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union.
