The Moroccan national football team is preparing a new squad list for World Cup qualification

Morocco national coach Walid Regragui will announce an expanded squad list for the upcoming training camp before the games against Niger and Tanzania. These matches are part of the fifth and sixth rounds of African qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to informed sources, Regragui is likely to include Espanyol Barcelona standout defender Omar Hilali in the preliminary squad. Despite strong competition at the right-back position from players such as Achraf Hakimi and Noussair Mazraoui, Hilali’s consistent performances in La Liga this season have significantly increased his chances of being called up.

Crystal Palace defender Chadi Riad is also expected to return to the team after recovering from a recent injury. A medical report from Christophe Dullot, the French national team doctor, confirmed Riyadh’s readiness to return. The report also included updates on the fitness of Amine Adli, a Bayer Leverkusen striker, and Sofiane Diop, who plays for OGC Nice.

Morocco currently lead Group E in qualifying, securing nine points with impressive wins against Tanzania, Congo-Brazzaville and Zambia. The Atlas Lions are aiming for direct qualification for the 2026 World Cup.

The final list of players selected for these crucial games is expected to be announced in the coming days.
