Azerbaijani airliner crash could have been due to weapons fire, transport minister says

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashan Nabiyev said on Friday that the Azerbaijani airliner that crashed earlier this week may have been hit by a weapon, while outside aviation experts blamed Russian air defense systems for the crash. The plane was flying from the Azerbaijani capital Baku to Grozny, the regional capital of Russia’s Chechen Republic, on Wednesday when it turned toward Kazakhstan and crashed while attempting to land. The crash killed 38 people and injured all 29 survivors.
