France hands over its first military base as part of its withdrawal from Chad

France has officially handed over its first military base in Faya-Largeau to Chad as part of the ongoing withdrawal of French forces. The move follows the abrupt end to military cooperation between Chad and its former colonial power last month. French troops will also leave their bases in Abeche and the capital N’Djamena.
