Two Families in North Carolina Those affected by Hurricane Helene received the gift of a lifetime on Christmas Day – a new place to call home.
The first recipient was the Penley family of Boone, North Carolina, who lost everything during the storm.
The family of four was released from the hospital Wednesday after the birth of their second child and planned to move to a homeless shelter until EmergencyRV stepped in.
“We didn’t want that to happen at EmergencyRV. We brought this trailer here for them and it will be a great place for them now,” the company said in a video posted on X.

The RV gifted to the Penleys comfortably accommodates their family, which consists of two adults, a toddler and a newborn. It features a bedroom on one side of the RV and two sleeping areas on the other side, as well as a large bathroom and a large kitchen area with seating at a table and couch.
The second recipient was Timothy McCord, a 70-year-old Marine Corps veteran who served in Vietnam. Helene tore off the roof of his mobile home, in which he continued to live despite leaks and other damage.
EmergencyRV traveled to Canton, North Carolina to gift him a brand new RV after McCord’s daughter contacted the company and told him he needed help.
“You helped me turn my life around and I appreciate it,” McCord said as his new home was handed over.

EmergencyRV is a nonprofit organization that provides housing to displaced survivors of natural disasters 77 campers received gifts for people affected by Helene since the storm wreaked havoc in the Carolinas, Georgia and Tennessee in late September. The RVs are given away completely free with a clean title in the recipient’s name.
The organization said it has 700 families on its waiting list who have been fully vetted and genuinely need help after a natural disaster.

“We are taking this seriously as we have limited resources,” the organization said
Although they prioritize veterans and first responders, EmergencyRV said they have helped families and singles who have lost their homes or suffered serious damage in Helene.

EmergencyRV was founded in 2018 by Woody Faircloth and his then 6-year-old daughter in response to the fatal accident Campfire in Paradise, California.
Their goal was to raise enough money to gift a mobile home to a family affected by the fire. They succeeded and have since donated hundreds of RVs to victims of wildfires and other natural disasters.
