The National Lacrosse League is investigating after a player argued with fans after the game


The National Lacrosse League has launched an investigation after a shocking scene occurred following a recent Halifax Thunderbirds game.

A video circulated online showing professional lacrosse player Tyson Bell engaging in a physical altercation with fans after Saturday’s game against the lacrosse player Colorado mammoth. At one point during the fight, Bell appeared to use his lacrosse stick.

The NLL admitted it was aware of what happened after last weekend’s game.

“The National Lacrosse League is aware of an alleged incident between a player and spectators following the Halifax game at the Colorado game on December 21st,” the NLL said in a statement released on December 22nd. “The league will provide an update” after it completes its investigation.

Video shared on social media appeared to show Bell “attacking fans with his fist before swinging his stick at them,” it said TMZ Sports.

Fans appeared to shout insults at the athletes as they made their way to the locker room. Bell’s teammates eventually intervened and restrained him to defuse the situation.

Colorado defeated Halifax on Saturday. Colorado forward Will Malcolm led the team with 10 points and seven goals in the 9-14 win. Meanwhile, Bell did not score during the game.

The Thunderbirds host the Albany FireWolves on December 28th at the Scotiabank Centre.
