Sudan is the “greatest humanitarian disaster in history”: head of the International Rescue Committee

FRANCE 24 spoke to David Miliband, President and CEO of the International Rescue Committee (IRC). According to the group’s annual watchlist of global humanitarian crises, about 10 percent of people in humanitarian need worldwide live in Sudan, where a brutal civil war has raged since April 2023. “The greatest humanitarian disaster in history,” Miliband warned. He called for border crossings to be opened to aid deliveries and for the powers that armed both sides in the conflict to stop doing so.
