Trump assassin suspect Ryan Routh faces new charges in Florida


Ryan Routh, the man accused of attempted murder then-presidential candidate Donald Trump Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody announced Wednesday that he faces a new charge of attempted aggravated murder in connection with a car crash that occurred as he attempted to flee authorities.

Moody said as Routh fled north on I-95, law enforcement was forced to close traffic in both directions to catch him and ensure the public’s safety. However, the lane closure led to a traffic accident in which a six-year-old girl who was traveling with her family was injured.

The New charges against Routh comes after what she described as a “lack of cooperation and support from federal agents” that has frustrated authorities in Florida.

Routh allegedly lurked in the bushes with a rifle on the edge of the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach for more than 12 hours as Trump played golf on September 15. A Secret Service agent saw Routh point a rifle through a fence and shot him. Routh fled and was arrested the same day.

Routh has already done it pleaded not guilty on five counts, including the attempted assassination of a presidential candidate and the assault on a federal officer.

Routh last appeared for a federal court hearing on Dec. 11. His legal team is considering an insanity defense.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis reiterated Moody’s comments and claimed that it was difficult to cooperate with federal officials on the matter.

Routh remains in federal custody. His trial is currently scheduled for February 10, 2025.
