UN envoy warns Syria conflict is not over yet
A U.N. envoy warned on Tuesday that Syria’s protracted conflict is “not yet over,” even as the country’s victorious Islamist-led rebels stepped up contacts with governments that viewed ousted President Bashar al-Assad as a pariah. UN migration chief Amy Pope, meanwhile, warned against a “large-scale return” of refugees to Syria, adding that “repatriating people would only further destabilize the country.” FRANCE 24’s Jessica Le Masurier reports from New York.
