President Trump said Monday that negotiations with Iran on a deal to end the war were “progressing well,” but he doubled down on his tactics, adding a warning that the U.S. would be “back to the front and firing, but bigger and stronger than ever – and no one wants that!”
Mr. Trump said in his Monday morning Truth Social post that after weekend talks with Persian Gulf and other regional leaders, “it should be mandatory that all of these countries sign the agreement at least simultaneously.” Abraham Accords“Agreement that has already normalized relations between Israel and several Muslim-majority nations.
“Most should be ready, willing and able to make this deal with Iran a far more historic event than it would otherwise be,” Trump said, linking the still-nascent potential Iran peace deal to a broader regional takeover of the U.S.-brokered Abraham Accords.
“It should start with immediate signing by Saudi Arabia and Qatar and everyone else should follow suit. If they don’t, they should not participate in this deal as it shows bad intent,” he said.
“Speaking to many of the great leaders mentioned above, once our document is signed, they would be honored to have the Islamic Republic of Iran as part of the Abraham Accords. Wow, that would be special! This will be the most important deal that one of these great but always conflicted countries will ever sign,” Mr. Trump said.
“That is why I urge all countries to sign the Abraham Accords immediately and that if Iran signs its agreement with me as President of the United States of America, it would be an honor for them to also be part of this unprecedented global coalition,” the president said.
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, in one post on the Xth Sunday, called Mr. Trump Sunday to “remain persistent in getting a good deal with Iran,” adding: “It is equally important to stand firm and insist that Saudi Arabia and others join the Abraham Accords as part of these negotiations.”
