A couple was killed Hanukkah attack in Bondi Beach According to dashcam footage, he tried to stop one of the suspected shooters and briefly took the gun from him.
According to reports, Boris Gurman (69) and his wife Sofia (61) intervened in an attempt to disarm the suspect, losing their lives in the process.
Dashcam footage shared on Chinese social media platform Rednote shows Gurman struggling with one of the suspected attackers, disarming him and both men falling onto the street.

Gurman, with his wife at his side, appears to stand up and strike the attacker with the weapon. The attacker then allegedly seized another weapon with which he allegedly killed the couple BBC reported.
Separate drone footage shows the couple lying motionless on the sidewalk, it is said The Guardian.
“We are heartbroken by the sudden and senseless loss of our beloved Boris and Sofia Gurman,” the family said Sydney Morning Herald. “They had been married for 34 years and their 35th wedding anniversary was approaching in January. We were excited to celebrate Sofia’s 62nd birthday on Wednesday, December 17th.
“Although nothing can ease the pain of the loss of Boris and Sofia, we are overwhelmingly proud of their courage and selflessness,” the family continued.
“It gets to the heart of who Boris and Sofia were – people who instinctively and selflessly sought to help others.”
Boris was a retired mechanic and Sofia worked for Australia Post, her family said.
The couple were from Bondi Beach and were described by loved ones as an “honest” and “hardworking” couple who were “devoted” to their family and treated everyone with respect and kindness.

“They were the heart of our family, and their absence has left an immeasurable void,” the statement concluded.

The owner of the dashcam footage told Reuters that Gurman “did not run away, but charged straight towards the danger, tried with all his might to wrestle the weapon away and fought to the death.”
“I can see on my camera that the elderly man was eventually shot and collapsed. That moment broke my heart,” she said.
At least 16 people were killed in Sunday’s mass shooting, New South Wales police said in a statement statement on Mondayincluding one of the two suspected shooters. The state police commissioner described the attack as a “terrorist” incident.
42 people were injured while taking part in the celebrations on the first evening of Hanukkah, including two police officers who suffered gunshot wounds.
Six people remain in critical condition and 27 are in serious and stable condition.
Both officers remain in serious but stable condition, police said.
The second suspected shooter suffered serious injuries and is in hospital.
The Gurmans, who were Jewish, were the first to be killed in Sunday’s attack, the Herald reported. The dead also include a ten-year-old girl, a rabbi and a Holocaust survivor. Authorities are still working to identify the remaining victims, who they believe range in age from 10 to 87.
Detectives and anti-terrorism investigators recovered six firearms from the crime scene as well as three improvised explosive devices, police said.

The Gurmans weren’t the only civilians who put themselves in harm’s way to take down an attacker. Ahmed Al-Ahmeda 43-year-old man, was hailed as a hero for successfully disarming one of the two suspects who opened fire from a beach sidewalk.
Footage of the ordeal shows Ahmed throwing the suspect to the ground, taking his gun and forcing him to retreat by pointing the gun at the suspect.
Ahmed was shot in the shoulder by the second attacker and is recovering in hospital.
In an interview on Monday from his hospital bed, he told reporters: “What can I even say? I’ve been through a difficult time that only God knows about,” before asking for prayers and sending positive messages to Australians amid the devastation.
On Monday evening, New South Wales Premier Chris Minns paid tribute to the victims and showed his support for the Jewish community in an Instagram post.
“Tonight, on the second night of the Jewish celebration of Hanukkah, we laid wreaths to honor and pay tribute to the victims of the terrible terrorist attack in Bondi and their families,” he wrote.
“Hanukkah is the Jewish festival of lights. On this second night of Hanukkah, we light candles together and band together against the darkness,” the post continues.
