“While the examination has not yet been completed, a first review of the evidence shows an ideological motive for this attack,” Patel wrote about X.

“These loathed, politically motivated attacks against law enforcement authorities are not one -time.”

Joe Rothrock, special agent of FBI, said a press conference that contained “news that are anti-ice in nature” near the shooter.

“This is only the latest example of this type of attack,” he said. He said the FBI examined it as “an act of targeted violence”.

The Dallas police said a preliminary investigation had found that the suspect had opened the fire from an adjacent building.

“The Sagittarius fired indiscriminately on the ice building, also in a van in the Sallyport, where the victims were shot,” said the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in a statement.

The Reuters news agency reported that the goal of an ice field for short -term processing is used for recently arrested prisoners and is not used as a prison.

The incumbent director of the Dallas Ice Office Joshua Johnson told the press conference that it was the second time that he had to stand in front of the media and talk about a shooter in one of his institutions.

“Taking away from all this is that the rhetoric has to stop,” he said.

The Senator of Texas, Ted Cruz, also spoke at the press conference and convicted “politically motivated violence”.

“Your political opponents are not Nazis,” he said, asking people not to demonize each other for partisans. “The splitting rhetoric tragically has real consequences.”

The ice field office in Dallas was targeted this summer by a number of protests.

A man was arrested in August after entering the facility, according to DHS and claimed to have a bomb in his backpack.

The 36-year-old US citizen, Bratton Dean Wilkinson, had shown the security personnel of the building a device on the wrist, which he described as the “detonator”, said the DHS.

Last month shots were fired in ICE offices in San Antonio, Texas. In this incident, no injuries were reported that blamed “political rhetoric”.

Another shootout took place on July 4th in an ICE facility in Alvarado, Texas, after a protest escalated with the police. An officer was shot and survived. Eleven people were charged with this attack.
