Houthis, supported by Iran, said on Saturday that an Israeli air raid killed the prime minister of the rebel -controlled government in the Yemeni capital Sanaa.
Ahmed al-Rahawi was killed in a strike on Thursday in Sanaa together with a series of ministers, the rebels said in a explanation.

The Israeli military said on Thursday that it “hit the military goal of Houthi Terrorist Regime in the Sanaa area in Yemen”.
Al-Rahawi, who had been working by Houthi since August 2024, was targeted together with other members of his government controlled by Houthi during a routine workshop for the government to evaluate her activities and performance in the past year, the rebels said.
The Houthis have repeatedly started rockets against Israel in the entire Israeli war against Hamas in Gaza. The group says that the attacks in solidarity are with the Palestinians. Although most of the rockets launched by Yemen are intercepted by Israel or fragment in the middle of the air, this has not contributed little to prevent the attacks.
At the beginning of the week, Israeli strikes met several areas in all of Sanaa, killed at least 10 people and injured 102 other, according to Houthi Ministry of Health and government officials.
The Houthis started rockets and drones towards Israel and targeted ships in the Red Sea throughout the Israel war against Hamas in Gaza. The rebels say their attacks are in solidarity with the Palestinians.
In response to the Houthi attacks, Israel and a coalition led by the USA hit the areas held by rebels in Yemen, including Sanaa and the strategic coastal city of Hodeida. Israeli strikes went out of operation in May.
The Trump government announced a contract with the Houthis to end the air raids in return for attacks on shipping in May. However, the rebels said that the agreement did not contain any attacks on the goals they believed that were geared towards Israel.
