Fern work tips – the fitnessista

Share some of my top tips for long -distance work since I’ve been working at home for so many years. I know that some of them also work a remote control. So share your top productivity tips or hacks in the comments!

Hello friends! I hope you are doing well and enjoy the day. I have a podcast interview this morning and we have the usual homeschool/dance/basketball fun today.

Today I wanted to entertain a little about working from home and editing a few tips with all of you.

OG readers know this story, but I started the blog when we lived in Valdosta, GA. I had just worked as a personal trainer and left the world of retail management, and it became something that I could never have imagined. I love to contact everyone, and every day I am so grateful for freedom to work from home and earn an income while I can be here for the children.

I know that many friends out there aslo run a shop from home or work from a distance. It is somehow the “new normal” and I love it is an option. Since pandemic, the way we think about work has completely shifted: Home Offices replaced cabins, video chats replaced conference rooms and coffee shops have become the new coworking hubs. And honestly? There is a lot of advantages: Comfort, flexibility, fewer commuters and often a better shot in the real work of working life.

But here is the truth: long -distance work or working from home is not always easy. Without the right strategies, it can feel isolating, overwhelming or even unproductive.

Today I wanted to share some of my favorite remote work tips that help you to have your best working life, whether you are at home, an office or a café.

Fern work tips

I think that the understanding of what remote work really means is the key. It not only works in your pajamas or answers phone calls from the couch. It is about designing systems, routines and habits that keep them productively, connected and fulfilled.

These tips for the equipment should not only “get through”, but are actually successful, grow and enjoy their work from home. I also wanted to take on tips for my friends who are practically working for a company because it is another animal to work for themselves. (If you want me to make more blog posts behind the scenes, I would like to do that too!)

What does long -distance work mean?

At the core, long -distance work means to do your job outside of a traditional office. This could mean setting up a home office, working in a café or even doing your work while traveling. In contrast to conventional jobs, there is no water cooler, no morning pendulum traffic and no boss who comes past your desk every 20 minutes.

The biggest difference? Freedom and responsibility. You have more about your working hours, your work area and your daily rhythm, but you also need discipline and creativity to stay concentrated.

Faring work is not only an advantage; It is a completely new way of structuring both work and life.

How to make long -distance work successful

How to stay productive while working remote

Tip: Create a “pendulum ritual” (even if it is wrong)

One of the most difficult parts of the long -distance work is to switch from “home mode” to “working mode”. Trick your brain with a mini ritual: go through the block, make a special coffee or listen to a 5-minute pump-up play list before sit at your desk. It signals your brain that your working hours have started.

Tip: Chop your work space

Skip the disorder. Add plants, a salt lamp or even a candle to your home office setup. Studies show that environmental information affects productivity. So let your room inspire.

Bonus: Nobody prevents them from hanging sparkling lights or putting on a treadmill. I love my challenge and use it often all day.

Tip: work in time blocks

Since it is very easy for me to be distracted, I will block my time so that I only concentrate on a certain task for this period.

How to ask for an increase if you work remote

Tip: collect “receipt”

It is easy that remote contributions remain unnoticed. Create an ongoing document with victories: Projects completed, shining customer feedback, deadlines crushed. If the increase in time comes, you have data to secure your request (and it is more difficult for a boss to say no if he is right in front of him).

How to build relationships while working remote

Tip: Do not plan professional calls

Not everything has to be the results. Place your calendar “virtual coffee chats”. These 15-minute leisure calls with employees imitate the office water cooler and help them to stay in touch beyond slack messages.

How to communicate effectively when you work remote

Tip: hug language notes

I have a guest everything that is more than a few sentences. A quick language grade (via slack, voxer or WhatsApp) can enlighten things faster and add warmth. In this way you can actually say what you mean from the tone of your voice instead of being confused by emojis.

How to dress for long -distance work

Tip: Take over the “Zoom -Sinaück”

Business above, comfortable down. Invest in a few “power tops” (bright colors, sharp collars) that make you look polished on video calls – while your leggings or joggers remain hidden under the desk. I do that all the time.

How to feel connected when choosing work

Tip: Start a ritual of the third room

If you are not in an office, life can feel like an endless loop of home and at home. home. Break it out once a week in a café or a library. This creates a “third room” that stimulates your brain and feels fresh. I also think that I am much more productive in a café.

This submits taxes as a remote employee

Tip: Create a digital “shoe box”

Set up a cloud folder called “Tax”. Every time you buy something work -related. Whether it is a new desk chair, software or a café shop wi-fi-let the receipt fall into the tax season, your deductions are organized and you will not panic old emails. We use a bookeeper to follow everything – I only sent you my statements every month – and it makes it so much easier.

Bonus: Protect your energy

Remote work makes it easy to blur limits. Protect your energy by adjusting hard “switch -off rituals” at the end of your working time: connect the laptop, light a candle, take a walk or go directly to a training session.

Long -distance work is more than just a different attitude: it is a shift in the lifestyle. With the right routines, limits and creative improvements, you can design a remote working life that supports your productivity, your relationships and your general well -being.

So, tell me, friends: How many of you work from home compared to an office environment? Do you use a coworking room or a café?
