His conservative democratic center party published an explanation that she described as a “unacceptable act”.
The attack took place in a park in the Fontibon district when armed attackers shot it from behind, said the right democratic center, which was the party of the former President Alvaro Uribe. The men are not related.
Pictures on social media showed that Uribe Turbay (39) was covered with blood from several people. In a medical report by the Santa Foundation Hospital, the senator was approved in a critical condition and is subject to a “neurosurgical and peripheral vascular procedure”.
“Miguel fights for his life,” wrote his wife María Claudia Tarazona on the X report by the Senator and asked the Colombians to pray for him.
The general prosecutor’s office, which the shootout examines, said that the Senator received two gunshot wounds in the attack, two more wounded. The office’s explanation states that a 15-year-old boy was arrested on site with a firearm.

The Colombian government said it offered a reward for the conquest of all those responsible.
“Respect life, that is the red line,” said President Gustavo Petro in a message published in his X account. Shortly after the post, Petro, according to a statement by the President, canceled a planned trip to France “due to the seriousness of the events”.

The US Foreign Minister Marco Rubio said on X that the United States condemned the attempted murder of Senator Miguel Uribe in the best possible terms. “
“This is a direct threat to democracy and the result of the violent left -wing rhetoric from the highest levels of the Colombian government,” said Rubio.
Reactions from Latin America, with the Chilean President Gabriel Boric said: “There is no space or no justification for violence in a democracy”, and Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa says: “We condemn all forms of violence and intolerance.” Both presidents offered solidarity to the family of the Senator.
