The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the final nominees for its 2024 awards on Thursday. The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Monday in Marrakech, Morocco and will honor Africa’s best football talent.
The African Player of the Year shortlist includes Ahmed Sayed Zizo of Zamalek of Egypt, Hussein El Shahat of Al Ahly of Egypt and Ronwen Williams of Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, CAF announced on its official social media account.
In the women’s category, Moroccans Doha Al Madani and Sanae Mssoudy will be fighting for the African Player of the Year award alongside Latcho Flora Marta from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The finalists for the best men’s team are Egypt’s Al Ahly and Zamalek and South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns. Meanwhile, the shortlist for the best women’s team includes Mazembe (DR Congo), ASFAR (Morocco) and Edo Queens (Nigeria).
Nominees for the Young Player of the Year award include Habiba Sabry of Egypt, Doha Al Madani of Morocco and Chiamaka Okwuchukwu of Nigeria.
The CAF awards ceremony promises to highlight the achievements of players and teams across the continent over the past year.
