This Tuesday, the United States confirmed the recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty for the Sahara to confirm the position, which President Donald Trump to his Majesty King Mohammed VI. During an interview between Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and Foreign Minister Marco Rubio in Washington, he confirmed the American support for the sovereignty of Morocco in the Sahara region.
This confirmation is reminiscent of the President Secretary granted in December 2020 in December 2020, during the telephone interview between King Mohammed VI and President Donald Trump, a labeling act of recognizing the full sovereignty of Morocco on the Sahara. The Foreign Minister has also renewed the support of the United States for Moroccan autonomy proposal as the only sustainable and permanent solution for the dispute.
Marco Rubio emphasized that the United States believes that this authentic autonomy under the Moroccan sovereignty remains the only framework to achieve a negotiated solution and to be acceptable by all parties. The foreign minister was the need to make immediate discussions on progress in this direction and promised the support of the United States to advance this process.
This confirmation of American support strengthens Morocco’s position in the international scene with regard to its sovereignty over the Sahara and demands the quick implementation of diplomatic solutions.
