Morocco is still organizing the U17 World Handball Championship for men

Doha-the International Handball Federation (IHF) has announced Morocco as a host country for the opening world championship of the IHF men under-17 World Cup, which is to take place from November 24th to 1st.

The groundbreaking tournament will include 12 teams from all over the world fighting for the championship title. This new addition in the IHF calendar aims to offer young handball players an international platform to present their talents.

“The IHF aims to offer young players the chance of competing against the best of other nations and enabling them to test their skills in a professional and demanding atmosphere” specified in his official announcement.

“For many athletes, this event is for the first time that it faces an international competition at such a high level and offers them invaluable exposure,” said the IHF and underlined the importance of the tournament for youth development.

The Federation also found that the championship “will play a decisive role in strengthening the global handball community and offers young players the opportunity to improve their skills at a young age and to accelerate their way to develop”.

It is worth noting that Morocco hosted The 45th African Handball Champions League tournament in Laayoune in October 2024, in which Egypt’s Al Ahl secure her seventh African Club Championship title after defeating Benins Flower’s CNSS with 43-22.

The IHF has announced that further information on qualified teams, schedule and details for the U17 World Cup will be published in due course.
