Marianne Plaulanz33, and her friend had tried to buy a house in Montreal, Québec, Canada for about two years. In 2022, the Plaulance came across an online list for an apartment with three bedrooms and two bathrooms in an old bank. The apartment was 3,500 square foot, divided between the first floor and a basement.
“When I saw the list for the first time, I freaked out,” she says that CNBC does it. “I knew it was intended for us, but I stayed calm because the house market was a bit crazy.”
As a plaisance, the real estate list saw for the first time, she knew that it would be the perfect place for her and her boyfriend.

Initially, the old bank was listed for 900,000 CAD or $ 625,720, but after its first visit to see the room personally, the price was reduced to $ 521,433.
“The list was for a long time. Nobody seemed to be interested in buying the property,” she says.
The couple submitted an offer of 500,576 US dollars and it was accepted. Your mortgage is $ 2,655 per month and $ 4.080 per year. Further expenses include $ 275 to supply companies, $ 92 for WLAN and $ 70 for parking per month.
“The bank is located on the ground floor of the building. The other condominiums above (not) see everything it looks like here,” she says. “I have the block of the block.”

The apartment still has some of the bank’s original design details, such as the marble floors, crown shapes, safe locker boxes and a vault that uses plaisance as a walk-in wardrobe.
“It is fulfilled with everything I love, it’s my dream cabinet,” she says.
The bank’s vault is now a walk -in closet.

“It was a nice empty canvas for me.”
Plaisance, a content creator, has a background in graphic design and commercial photography. It was a dream that had become true to find a home like the old bank.
“When I found this place, it was a nice canvas for me,” she says. “I have always imagined living in a very artistic, creative, colorful, unique room. So it is so cool for me to have this place as my adult house.”
Plaisance uses the old Safe closing boxes of the bank for storage.

As a self -proclaimed “deliberate maximum” Plaulanz converted the dark gray and baby blue room into her colorful dream house. Some of her valuable possessions include a couch shaped with lips and two massive cherries, which she used and determined in the apartment as a work of art.
“I think a good way to describe my style would be deliberate maximum, because I really like maximum decorations, but not too many of them,” she says.
One of the first things that plaisance for the room was to add floor -length curtains to create a rainbow.

Plaisance estimates that she spent 28,000 US dollars on renovation work. She also did a lot of work itself, such as adding crown formations to the walls – with the help of her father – and the old entrance of the bank into the bedroom of her dog.
“The first thing I did when I pulled in the house is to bring rainbow curtains through the room,” she says. “And the fun of my curtains is, if you close it, it makes a huge rainbow.”
After adding rainbow curtains to the room, one of the first things that Plaulance was with the help of her father Diyed was a studio room in the living area where she filmed content.
Plaisance transformed the entrance of the old bank into her dog’s bedroom.

Plaisance says that she spent a whole year to decorate the main bedroom: “It is very Wes Anderson, a bit like with Paris Castle in the room.”
The couple transformed one of the other bedrooms into the Plaisance office. “I filled the room with works of art that I like that inspired me,” she says.
Renoving and decorating the main bedroom lasted about a year.

There is a second bathroom and a third bedroom in the basement that the friend of the Plaisance uses as an office. The basement also has a passage to a common area of the building in which the plaisance is located.
“It looks like a hardware store that I love,” she says.

The couple have been living in the former bank for over two years, and Plaulanz says they have no plans to go.
“I really want to take time to change the place because I know that I want to live here for a long time,” she says. “It’s an ongoing job.”
The next step is to renovate the kitchen, for plaisance to receive professional help. In the next five years she says she would like to do the bathroom.
In the basement of the old bank, tenants have access to a common area in which the plaisance has its workshop.

“I don’t think there will ever be a time when I will do nothing in the house. And I think maybe I will repeat everything I have done in 10 years,” she says.
“But I want to have a long time in life what I’ve done so far to enjoy it. I don’t see myself here so soon. It’s my dream location.”
