The National Commission for the Protection of Personal Data (CNDP) has decided to enter a number of hearings in order to develop a considerations of the provisions that are necessary to protect privacy as part of the use of video surveillance. This initiative aims to guarantee a uniform interpretation of the law 09-08 for the processing of personal data by all affected actors.
The CNDP emphasizes that the use of video surveillance affects the security of public locations to the protection of private spaces, including scientific research and risk prevention. The adopted approach depends on the constitutional, legal and cultural specificities of Morocco and the implemented technologies.
