Doha – Maritime traffic between Morocco and Spain carefully resumed on Friday after the storm conditions forced cancellations and disorders on Thursday.
The port authority of Tanger Med has approved the ships to increase their planned trips to remedy the gap caused Suspending until Thursday.
Accordingly Spanish media, high -speed ferries, which were carried out by Armas Trasmediterránea and Baleària as well as Baleàrias Conventional ferry service, resumed normal operation after improving the weather conditions.
However, the maritime connections between Tarifa and Tanger City remain suspended due to the continued adverse weather.
The disorders on Thursday were triggered by wind speeds of more than 70 kilometers per hour, paired with treacherous waves that made the navigation in the Gibraltar street dangerous.
Until Friday, Conditions improved significantly, the wind speeds fell on an average of 22 kilometers per hour, while the gusts were between 30 and 35 kilometers per hour and enabled a safer pass.
This marks the second weather -related disorder within a week. On Tuesday, the passenger movement between Algeciras, Tarifa and Tangier ports was influenced by unfavorable weather conditions that affect the Gibraltar road.
Several morning departures from Algeciras to Tanger Med were affected, while all the Maritime connections from Tarifa were canceled that day.
The port authorities advised the passengers to contact their respective shipping companies directly in terms of potential delays or cancellations of planned trips.
With a view to the front, the maritime traffic between Tanger Med and Spanish ports of the weather conditions is delivered. Forecasts indicate another potential suspension next Tuesday due to expected strong winds and maritime disorders in the region.
These disorders come in a time of intensive atmospheric pressure shifts that have influenced the region since the beginning of March, and bring storms and powerful winds that have led to widespread floods in several countries.
These weather patterns have contributed to alleviating the drought conditions that have dominated the region in recent years.
