Apple is fighting to rebuild Siri for the age of the generative AI. According to Bloomberg’s Mark GurmanWhoever says that the company may not publish “a real modernized, talkative version of Siri” until iOS 20 comes out in 2027.
This does not mean that there will be no big Siri updates beforehand. According to reports, a new version of Siri will be debut in May and finally include all Apple Intelligence functions that the company announced almost a year earlier.
Gurman describes this version of Siri as “two brains”, one for older commands such as setting timers and meeting calls, the other for more advanced queries that can use user data. A system that the two brains referred internally as “LLM Siri” will report on the Worldwide Developers Conference in the spring of 2026.
And only then, says Gurman, will Apple be able to fully pursue the development of Siri’s advanced skills, which could then introduce the following year.
