Rabat – OCP Green Water has taken a considerable step to secure water resources for Casablanca South by providing 60 million cubic meters of delayed water a year.
This initiative introduced in October 2024 reacts to the growing water requirement and increases the supply stability in the region.
The project was developed in cooperation with OCP Manufacturing, Isaa, National and International Industrial Partners and Authorities and deals with water stress in the Oum Rabii Basin. It also shows the engagement of the OCP Group for sustainable solutions in view of the increasing pressure on the water resources.
Casablanca South is now delivered With a special desalination unit in the Jorf Lasfar facility of OCP.
In October 2024, the work initially delivered 20 million cubic meters a year before scaling up to 60 million cubic meters at the end of December. This development now covers more than a quarter of the city’s needs of drinking water.
The project is based on advanced technology, including a desalination plant, a pump station and a 54.5 km pipeline operated by OCP Green Water, which was developed by the authorities.
The pipeline connects the installation with the Daourate Dam Station, which plays a crucial role in the water supply of Casablanca South.
As part of his attempts to optimize resources and minimize its environmental impact, the project uses an innovative seawater recycling process. Integrated in the industrial operation of Jorf -Lasfar, the system recycles desalmed sea water to minimize waste and improve efficiency.
This initiative directly contributes to improving water safety by supporting the availability of drinking water, a growing urban population and grants access to a stable water supply.
It also contributes to this Water Solutions.
By diversifying water resources, the project strengthens resistance to climate challenges and mitigating risks related to drought and extreme weather.
OCP Green Water leads the national efforts to the development of non -conventional water sources and focuses on the desalination of sea water and wastewater treatment.
In the coming years, Khouribga, Youssoufia, Benguerir and Marrakech will also benefit from similar projects. By the end of 2024, OCP Green Water’s desalination capacity reached 185 million cubic meters with Jorf Lasfar and Safi.
The group plans to increase this number by 2027 to 2027 to 280 million cubic meters and 560 million cubic meters, as well as the wastewater treatment capacity of 50 million cubic meters.
In cooperation with the OCP Group, the government and industrial partners, OCP Green Water continues to expand access to sustainable water resources and at the same time integrates innovation and environmental responsibility into its long -term strategy.
