Some time ago I mentioned the novel by Chuck Palahnuik, Survivors, I would make a great film after finding that such a project was in development decades ago, and I think I found the next best with 2024s Let’s start a cult. While both intellectual characteristics tell stories, they both have very similar setups that include a single survivor of a cult self -murder that has to find out his next movements with scratches of funny consequences. After learning that this film exists, I was excited until I said: “Fail me the Kool-Aid”, but I am also a bit disappointed because such a promising concept does not put the landing.
I don’t say that Let’s start a cult Is not a solid proof of the concept, but sometimes there is something like too much tastick that it entirely out of the film.
The initial failure

Let’s start a cult Present his audience in Chip Harper (Stavros Halalkias), the type of character, which is often referred to as “stoned slacker”. Chip is the problematic member of a cult of death who will enjoy his day of transcendence, where each member poisoned himself after a series of celebrations before passing on to the next level of existence. The cult leader William Davenport (Wes Haney) tired of chips childlike wear, indicates him to send a video tape of the activities of the cult to the press, while he and the rest of his followers go through their ceremony and leave him behind as the sole survivor.
Chip is distracted by a Convenience Store Slurpy and forgets to send the band to the press and decides to return home to live with his parents as if he has not lived with the cult in recent years.
Chip will do it this time

As a chip recognizes that his regular life is completely unsatisfactory, he has difficulty assimilating himself as a regular, functioning member of society. Let’s start a cult Shows his namesake when the news of Chip informs that the corpses of his former cult members were found, with the exception of William, who is now considered a refugee murder to be sought for the mass murder in question. Chip manages to track down William, who now lives in the forest and is occasionally disguised in public as a clown so that he can earn money to work on children’s parties.
Chip and William do not understand each other because the former is a ruthless OAF who is a slave of his impulses, and the latter is a calculating cult leader who wants to follow a very specific process of recruitment and indoctrination in order to be successfully crossed.
It doesn’t take long for chip to quickly recruit several enthusiastic members, which causes William to take the reins into the reins Let’s start a cult. Chip, who initially believes William is reborn to run an unfinished business, realizes that he has always been a farmer in his game, and will ultimately take the fall on the original suicide of the mass if he does not find out how he can extinguish its name.
Big maunchy humor, but in the wrong place

As promising as Let’s start a cult Before I decided to try it out before I decided. I feel as disappointed as a recently deceased cult member who wakes up on the other hand without maintaining the expected heavenly reward for the victim of his life, and here is the reason.
Stavros Halkias is a great comedian who knows how to read the room, and when I dive his huge head in my feed, I will see what he has to say because it will probably make me laugh. He has a survival -sized personality, but this personality is not necessarily well translated into dark comedy Territory when exaggerated. For every moment in Let’s start a cult That was really funny for situational reasons, Halkias is up to 11 when I could have used him honestly at two or three.
The moments in Let’s start a cult This made me laugh at the hardest that Halkia was so gullible and unsuspecting when he tried to his cultural leader to his naked chip is managed by a former woman Struggle Champion called Dorota), which would probably work well in any other context. I don’t say that there is no time and a place for a healthy amount of murmur, but in this case it felt like this.
But still, Let’s start a cult Has a handful of moments that are really funny, and if you have patience for a comedy with a promising premise that is not quite as intended, you can stream the title on Hulu at the time of this letter.
