Rabat – Great Britain has appointed Alex Pinfield as the next ambassador in Morocco.
He will take over by Simon Martin and accept office in August 2025, said the foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
With more than two decades of diplomatic experience, Pinfield has built up a career that is characterized by high -ranking positions in foreign policy. Since entering FCDO in 1999, he worked in leading positions in areas of primary geopolitical interest.
From 2017 to 2020 he headed the China department and then supervised Afghan politics from 2021 to 2022. From 2022 to 2024 he supervised the Iranian desk, a role that requires a thorough understanding of regional maneuver.
Its aluminum spans extends over several continents. In 2021 he served as a deputy ambassador in Kabul and navigated in a critical time in the recent history of Afghanistan.
Previously, from 2009 to 2013 he headed the foreign policy department of the British High Commission in Canberra.
His term as head of the political section in Tehran (2007–2009) and his former mission as a second secretary in Beijing (2002–2005) provided him with first -hand experience of complicated diplomatic situations.
Apart from his diplomatic tasks, Pinfield held strategic role in the British government.
In 2016 he worked as a deputy director of the National Secretariat in the National Security Secretariat. He also analyzed the Middle East between 2005 and 2006 in the cabinet office.
His appointment is proof of the commitment of the United Kingdom for his relationship with Morocco.
While he is preparing to take on his new role, his extensive years of experience in foreign policy and diplomacy position him well in order to benefit from the historical relationship between the two countries.
