Sky Sports News Senior Reporter, Geraint Hughes, looks at an exciting year for Wales Women, while joining the elite in the Nations League and the Euro 2025 …

The qualification of Wales for the euro was dramatically sealed. In a crazy play-off final in Dublin there was high emotions when Wales excluded the Republic of Ireland in December.

It has achieved two great things and brought Wales to great positions, but they cannot return from the level they are now.

First they qualified for Euro 2025 – a first big tournament for Wales’ women – and secondly, Wales promoted the top level of the Nations League.

League A, the elite, the 16 European teams, including world champions in Spain, England, France and the Netherlands, to name just a few.

In the euro and the coming nations League, only Iceland has a smaller population and thus a player pool as a whale.

But the management of Wales, the players and the FAW manager no longer want to hear the “little” Wales “day.

Perhaps outsiders, but one to be respected, even dare to be feared by the old guard of Europe, and that includes England.

When Wales prepares for Italy and Sweden in the games of the opening nations league, there is so much that manager Rhian Wilkinson and her employees have to and want to learn.

If knowledge could be soaked with sponges, Wales would indeed have bought all the big supermarket stocks.

It is a learning curve, but learning has to be powerful quickly.

Services or results? It is probably 50.1 percent for performance, so that Wales is ready for the euro in their opening game against the Netherlands, but the results can not only be abandoned in the Nations League.

Wilkinson will ask her players quickly to fight and learn (use these knowledge sponges!)!

Wales cannot be rolled over by Italy, Sweden or Denmark. It would be morality to go into the euro after a hiding place in the Nations League.

So what has to avoid this?

A moment in the story when a group of players really talented.

Perhaps you compare this Wales class from 2025 with your male compatriots from 2016 with Bale and Ramsey at its climax.

Wales women have a legend of the game in their middle in Jess Fishlock, but together with these seriously good experienced professionals such as Captain Angharad James, Rachel Rowe and Hayley Ladd.

Mix younger players, teenagers like Mared Griffiths and Mayzee Davies, who at the age of 17 and 18 years old made Manchester UTD and Manchester City to quickly bring them to their first teams.

There is now a talent pool where Wales hasn’t had before.

In addition, nobody really knows the potential of Wales, certainly nobody outside of Wales, and that is a great advantage for 2025.

Wales love the outsider, they also love a shock.

The balancing act for Wales Manager Rhian Wilkinson is to unleash the unreserved and unknown person to cause chaos and panic among the opponents, and learn at the same time and adapt to play like an established page like England.

Whatever, it will be fun when the Wales group always seems to be smiling, enjoys the moment and plans this shock.
