ZAGG Pro key 2 for iPad Pro: A thick daily housing

I’m constantly testing Different iPad cases. When I’m done, I always turn to Logitech Combo Touch. With an adjustable kick stand and a removable keyboard, it has everything I need. The ZAGG Pro Keys 2 does many of the capabilities of the Logitech accessories, but at a cheaper price. So I was excited to try it and thought I might have found a new favorite. Unfortunately it is too short.

It is not completely identical to the Logitech case -it is much more protected, with a folio cover that serves as a kick stand (with adjustable angles) and a removable keyboard that lies in between. There is no trackpad – I have to pack a mouse or constantly raise my finger on the screen – and the entire setup is heavy and chunky. With 150 US dollars, it is one of the cheaper iPad Pro keyboard covers. But his defects are annoying enough that the lower price may not play a role.

Protection, but Chonky

The Pro Keys 2 I test is specially created for the 13-inch IPAD Pro (M4, 2024)Although you can also buy it for them 11-inch IPAD PRO (M4) as well as Both the 13- And 11-inch IPAD Air (M2). It consists of two parts: the housing and the keyboard.

Click the keyboard with the magnets and you can use the iPad Pro Like A laptop. The setup looks more modern than the PRO keys of the first generation, with a square instead of round key caps (which I prefer) and back with the option, to cycling between colors such as green, blue and red. There are light bulbs under every key, so it is bright enough to enter darker environments. But parts of the keyboard (such as the side buttons and the series of function) glow brighter than the Qwerty keys, so that the lighting feels unevenly. Adjusting the brightness with the background lighting key seemed to make no big difference. ZAGG also added more surface under the keyboard to rest her palms when typing.

It is pleasant to enter long times (I used it to enter this rating), although a trackpad would have been the cherry at the top, especially since there is plenty of space (the first generation model Has a trackpad version). Although I have been using the case for a few weeks, I accidentally use the middle to wipe out an imaginary trackpad out of habit. The keyboard is networked with Bluetooth so that you have to combine it with the iPad (you can connect up to two devices) and charge them. ZAGG claims up to a year of battery life, so you don’t have to worry that you constantly connect it.

The version of the second generation has a slot on the side for the apple pencil and not for a flap to keep it in place. It is much more aesthetic, but I wish ZAGG had adapted to the case. Instead, it consists of the same clear rubber as the bumpers around the iPad and looks cheap. The bumper also runs under the slot, but he won’t stand in the way of the wireless shop.

This case feels so protectively, so much that it feels like many who feels robust Cases that I tested. In addition to the rubber agents, the rest of the housing is made of plastic with a soft, matt feeling. The folio cover can be folded back into a stand and set in two angles. It was okay to see remotely (it was robust enough to stay upright on the couch without exceeding yourself) and using it as a laptop. But it doesn’t offer as many angles as a kick.
