The Ministry of Equipment and Water and in cooperation with the messages of Germany and Denmark started a cooperation project in Rabat entitled “Sustainable areas – sustainable and resilient lifestyles in Morocco”.
With a budget of 12 million euros, this project aims to improve the water offer and to promote economic development in the High Atlas region affected by September 2023.
The project is financed by the German and Danish governments and implemented by the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) and focuses on the government of water resources, reconstruction, economic recovery and the development of skills to maintain innovative practices.
The Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, emphasized its importance in connection with the efforts of the Moroccan government to meet the needs of the affected population. The ambassadors of Germany and Denmark, Robert Dölger and Berit Basse, also emphasized the need for integrated approaches to improve the living conditions of the residents and promotion of permanent solutions.
In addition, an execution contract was signed to implement the initiatives of the project, accompanied by a second agreement in which the methods for carrying out the activities are specified.
