You’ve probably heard about it Oura’s smart rings before, one of the best sleep and recovery trackersbut a new player entered the ring last summer:Samsung. It is the first time that a major technology company has produced a smart ring Samsung Galaxy Ring. As the name suggests, it is mainly aimed at Samsung users, although it can be used by any Android user with some limitations. Currently, most Samsung Galaxy Ring sizes and colors are available $279.99 (originally $399.99) after a $120 discount at checkout (some have the green check mark below list price and others have a 30% discount), the lowest price it has reached since its recent release Price tracking tools.
Samsung’s Galaxy Ring isn’t a one-off device thrown at the wall to see if it sticks: it’s a well-made health monitoring product that’s likely to get even better in future generations. But as a first generation smart ring it is solid, they say Review by PCMagas long as you have a Samsung phone to get the most out of it. It’s a solid health and sleep tracker, but the Better leave activity tracking to smartwatches.
The Galaxy Ring has a titanium finish with color options including gold, silver and black. Like Oura rings, it is a bit bulky compared to regular rings at 7mm wide and 2.6mm thick. Anyone wearing it can see their sleep, heart rate and skin temperature, but Samsung users can control their phone’s camera or turn off alarms by tapping their thumb twice in a row with their ring finger.
The best thing about the ring compared to its main competition, the Oura rings, is that there is no subscription. It also has a wireless charging case and is IP68 waterproof, so you can use it to wash your hands or shower. Battery life is around six days and you can choose between a size five to 15.
If your Android phone can run it Samsung Health appit is compatible with the ring. If you want to access a feature called Energy Score, which gives you a rating of your energy levels based on sleep, diet and activity, you’ll need a Samsung phone.
