Liverpool maintained their six-point lead at the top of the Premier League with an easy win against Ipswich this afternoon.
The visitors have conceded 10 goals in two games following their 6-0 defeat to Manchester City last week. In truth, they were hopelessly outclassed at Anfield as Arne Slot’s men cruised to victory without getting out of second gear.
Cody Gakpo continued his fine season with a brace, with Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah also on target.
Jacob Greaves pulled back a long but the 18th Tractor Boys remain deep in relegation trouble.

Szoboszlai puts Red in front
Ipswich held on to a cautious opening until Szoboszlai broke the deadlock with the first serious opportunity for either side after 11 minutes.
Played by Ibrahima Konate, the Hungarian captain stepped past a challenge and fired in a Low shot into the bottom right corner.
From an Ipswich perspective it was far too easy as Szoboszlai found too much space to operate.
Kieran McKenna made five changes after the defeat to City but one of the earners, Wes Burns, lasted just 26 minutes before going down with a serious injury.
The Wales international left on a stretcher and Ipswich’s afternoon took a turn for the worse when Salah doubled Liverpool’s advantage nine minutes later.
Gakpo was the creator with a cross from the left and Salah did the rest, immediately controlling the ball before driving past Christian Walton from a tight angle for his 100th Premier League goal at Anfield.
It was 3-0 before half-time, with Ipswich offering no resistance at all.
Ryan Gravenberch whipped in a dangerous ball from the right that Szoboszlai scored. Walton made a good save but Gakpo was there to take the rebound.
Everything is too easy for Liverpool
The second half was a walk in the park for the home team, with the game all but over at the break.
The intensity dropped although Liverpool stayed good at the top.
The fourth goal came after 66 minutes with Gakpo on target again. Trent Alexander-Arnold curled up in a marker cross and the Dutchman got ahead of his marker to nod past Walton.

Alexander-Arnold almost stepped on the act but his impact from 25 meters flashed past Walton Beatine before he went even closer four minutes later with a shot that bounced back off the right post.
Alisson was finally called into serious action after 84 minutes with a smart stop to deny George Hirst, but the Brazil international was beaten in the final minute. Greaves nodded debutant Julio Encisco’s corner into the net.
