Samsung has just given us our first look at the Galaxy S25 Edge

Samsung may have announced three Galaxy phones todayincluding the Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra, but that didn’t stop the company from announcing a fourth model. In addition to detailed specifications of the new lineup, which launches on February 7, Samsung also hinted at a more mysterious future phone called the Galaxy S25 Edge.

This announcement came towards the end of the year Samsung’s Unpacked eventand didn’t give viewers much more to work with than a name and some renderings. However, at first glance, the Edge appears to be a thinner version of the Galaxy S25, with a built-in dual-lens camera bump to accommodate the smaller body.

That would line up with rumors that Apple is also working on an iPhone Air that have been shared by reputable sources, including supply chain analysts Ming Chi Kuo And Bloomberg tech reporter Mark Gurman.

Assuming these rumors are true, the release of the iPhone Air and Galaxy Edge, both launching one after the other, would indicate an impending shift towards thinner phones, which could potentially convince users to upgrade their handsets in light of this to upgrade waning interest in foldable phones And increasingly iterative updates to the standard format.

Accordingly Android Authoritywho spoke to a Samsung representative in South Africa, the Edge will definitely come to South Korea and the US when it launches sometime in the future, but it may take some time to reach the rest of the world.

What specifications to expect said TM Roh, Samsung president of mobile devices Bloomberg that “The Edge will use some of the same technologies as the new Ultra model, but will house them in a stripped-down design.” Given the seemingly greatly reduced camera capacity, I’m a bit skeptical, but perhaps the Edge will actually beat the base S25.

However, with this level of performance in such a small form factor, I’d definitely expect a higher price tag (the base S25 starts at $800), although that’s currently under wraps. The release date is also still open, at least officially, but Gurman Posted on X to expect the phone “in the first half of this year”.
