No fewer than 36 Aleppo pine trees were illegally felled in the Boulaouane territory of El Jadida province. The National Agency for Water and Forests (ANEF) took note of this violation on January 11, 2025. Their offices then launched an investigation. The initial data from the investigation revealed the suspected involvement of four people.
Among them is a rider from the Azemmour forest district. It is an official of the agency who is suspected of being an accomplice.
«ANEF has filed an official complaint with the Attorney General of El Jadida Province and is working closely with the judicial authorities and security services to identify all those responsible so that they can answer for their actions…», indicates the agency headed by Abderrahim Houmy.
ANEF also declares that it is using all human, technical and logistical means to clarify the circumstances of this crime and to prevent such acts in the future.
His legal action comes in his capacity as official custodian of the national forest heritage. For this reason, ANEF also affirms: “its unwavering commitment to the protection of the forest resources of the Kingdom of Morocco and the application of a policy of zero tolerance towards any form of damage or illegal exploitation“. ANEF’s mission is the conservation of forest ecosystems. Hence the strategy “Forests of Morocco 2020-2030”.
The agency calls on all citizens to report any illegal acts against forests. Preserving them is a collective responsibility, she remembers.
