Little Mix singer Jade Thirlwall talks about her brief romance with Harry Styles.
While Thirlwall, 32, won the British version of The X Factor In 2011 she appeared as a member of Little Mix, she auditioned in 2010, and in the same year Styles, 30, auditioned as a soloist and continued to form One direction.
“I think we went on a date like that…we were like 16,” Thirlwall recalled during an interview on the Monday, December 20, episode of “The Louis Theroux Podcast.”
“He had just joined the band. It was really funny because we kept in touch and then when they went to the live shows he didn’t text me back and I thought, “That’s it.” He’s gone. “He did it,” the “Angel of My Dreams” singer continued.
One Direction may have hit the pause button on their music together, but band members Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik have continued to hit the pause button when it comes to romance. Thirlwall said she and Styles met the following year The X Factor when she competed on the show with Little Mix. “I saw him in a room after (the show) and he said, ‘I’m really sorry I ignored you.'”
host Louis Theroux chimed in: “He ghosted you?” Thirlwall replied, laughing: “Yes.”
However, Thirlwall now sees the funny side of things.
“But I was so young that it didn’t really matter,” she said.
Thirlwall continued to compliment “Watermelon Sugar” singer.added: “He was always very, very nice. He got himself to where he is because he’s very talented and very lovable.”
While Thirlwall and Styles didn’t distance themselves, her bandmate did Perrie Edwardsdated Styles’ bandmate, Zayn Malikfor four years. The couple got engaged in 2013 but split in August 2015.

“From the age of 17 to the age of 21, I was in a relationship,” Malik said of his relationship with Edwards in a May 2024 interview nylon. “I was engaged. At that point I knew nothing. I thought I did it because I was 21. I was legally allowed to do anything, but I didn’t know what that was.”
“My parents were kind of old-fashioned, so I never brought home a girlfriend or anything,” he added. “When I got the opportunity, I jumped in with two feet and thought, ‘I’m going to have a girlfriend and she’s going to live with me.’ That makes me a grown man.’”
After their breakup, Malik continued along Gigi Hadidwith whom he shares daughter Khai, 4. (The couple split in October 2021.) Edwards shares a son, Axel, 3with football player Alex Oxlade Chamberlain.
