Mitigating the effects of the cold wave: More than 48,000 people affected in Al Haouz


The provincial plan to contain the cold wave targets more than 48,000 people in Al Haouz province, including 16,000 children and 6,000 elderly people, with a focus on supporting and supporting vulnerable groups.

These data were announced during a meeting of the Provincial Monitoring Committee held on Monday in Tahannaout, chaired by the Governor of Al Haouz Province, Rachid Benchikhi, in the presence of representatives of the various departments concerned, to begin reviewing the measures taken to mitigate the negative impact of the cold snap during the 2024-2025 winter season.

In total, the plan affects 150 provincial-level douars, 38 of which are classified in the high-risk red zone. The mobilization also involves 32 general practitioners, 11 specialists and 111 nurses, as well as equipping 86 ambulances and planning 187 field visits for medical teams, as well as organizing five specialized medical campaigns. In addition, 95 snow removal vehicles were deployed in the most affected areas and advanced and fully equipped centers were set up to ensure rapid response.
