My favorite Amazon deal of the day: The Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition

I love Kindle e-readers and have been using them ever since first Kindle Paperwhite came out in 2012. One thing I’ve been looking forward to since I first got my hands on it was the color version. In November it finally appeared with the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Editionthat is for sale $229.99 (originally $279.99), the lowest price since its release Price tracking tools. This is what you can expect from Colorsoft.

The Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition is exactly what it sounds like: a color Kindle e-reader. It’s essentially the same hardware and design as that Kindle Paperwhite Signature Editionwith the same dimensions, weight and 32 GB of storage. It also has the same features as the auto-adjusting front light IPX8 rating Waterproofing, wireless charging, and an ad-free lock screen that displays either the cover of the book you’re reading or generic wallpapers. Battery life is shorter than a Paperwhite, at eight weeks compared to twelve weeks, but still sufficient for most people.

The seven-inch E Ink color display appears to have an industry-standard 300 pixels per inch (ppi) for black and white content and 150 ppi for color Review by PCMag. If you love reading comics, Colorsoft Signature Edition is for you. The colors look like printed newspaper quality, and there’s a feature that allows a close-up of each comic panel so you can enjoy and read the art without having to zoom in.

Although the screen doesn’t get too bright (94 nits brightness), the screen does a good job of blocking glare. The automatic light adjustment is practical if you are often indoors and outdoors. Personally, I love the warm and cool front light settings as I like to read at night and not strain my eyes before bed.

Considering that upgrading from the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition to the color version only costs $29.99 more, it’s a great deal for anyone who needs a little more color in their life.
