Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim was delighted his side overcame a deficit to beat Southampton at Old Trafford.

An own goal from Manuel Ugarte saw the hosts trail until the final 10 minutes before the Red Devils were rescued by the magic of Amad Diallo.

The 22-year-old scored a 10-minute hat-trick to complete the comeback and move the team to 12th in the Premier League table.

And although Amorim was relieved and pleased with the result, he couldn’t help but be annoyed by his players’ unrest.

He said: “It’s good in the end. A very difficult game, a game of two halves. They did a very good job at Southampton. Create space between the lines.

“Number 20 (Kamaldeen Sulemana) with a lot of space. We had great difficulty stopping this player. When they lose their physicality, we find the space to use. We feel like we have so much to do – the team is really tired.

“There seems to be a lack of enthusiasm. Ugarte is late and Mainoo is late, Bruno Fernandes goes outside when the ball is in.

“One change and Yoro can’t catch the guy – little things push the team back and then we get nervous.

“Today it wasn’t a lack of enthusiasm, but rather a lack of control over the game.

“It was a win, it was good – let’s keep going.”

Amorim paused to praise Diallo for bailing out the former Sporting coach.

He added: “Even in the first half, every time Amad gets the ball he can push the ball.

“He pushes the other team into the final third – that’s really important. We didn’t have a good game, but at this moment the victory is the most important thing.”

The man himself was delighted that he had earned his match point and even went so far as to claim that United could win every game going forward.

Diallo said: “I feel good. “I’m so happy to score my first hat-trick at Old Trafford. But for me the most important thing was to win this game and I’m happy for the club that we were able to win it.

“I’m so happy about the goal against Liverpool and also today. But the most important thing was to win and I’m happy about that.

“I think the team believed until the end. Today we showed that we were the best team on the pitch. We wanted to win this game and we did it in the end.

“It’s important to win. That gives us confidence for the next game. We have to keep going and play like this. I believe in this team. We can win every game. In the end we showed that we were very good.”
