Amad scores a sensational late hat-trick at Old Trafford
Manchester United staged a dramatic second-half comeback to beat Southampton 3-1 at Old Trafford.
Amad Diallo made headlines with a sensational hat trick. The young winger’s clean performance in the final ten minutes turned the tide for the hosts after they fell behind after a poor first half.
Southampton started well and deservedly took the lead in the 43rd minute.
Mateus Fernandes’ dangerous corner was directed by Tyler Dibling and Manuel Ugarte could only deflect the ball into his own net under pressure.
The visitors had dominated much of the first half, with Andre Onana making key saves to deny Dibling and Fernandes, ultimately keeping United in the contest.
Alejandro Garnacho wasted a golden chance after being fed by Rasmus Hojlund and side-footed wide. Shortly after the break, Antony missed a passer and tamely pushed the shot into the hands of Aaron Ramsdale.

But it was Diallo who equalized in the 82nd minute.
After a clever pass from substitute Joshua Zirkzee, the Ivorian’s first shot was blocked, but he sank the rebound with a calm finish into the bottom corner.
The momentum then shifted completely in United’s favor and Diallo struck again in the 90th minute to put his team in the lead.
His rapid running and clever interplay with Christian Eriksen saw him grab a beautifully clipped ball from the Dane, stretch and deliver a superb finish past Ramsdale.
It was raging at Old Trafford as Diallo celebrated what appeared to be the winning goal.
Southampton pushed forward in stoppage time hoping to salvage a point.
Taylor Harwood-Bellis went close from a corner but his header hit teammate Flynn Downes and went wide.
Then, in the final moments, the game was over. Ramsdale’s poorly executed pass put Harwood-Bellis under pressure and Diallo pounced to intercept and shot into the empty net to seal his hat-trick and the win.
It was an outstanding performance from Diallo, who showed maturity and composure in a game where United desperately needed inspiration.
While the introductions of Eriksen and Zirkzee added creativity and presence, it was the young winger’s clinical finishing and tireless energy that turned the game on its head.
