Incorrect font size for warning lights
Date of recall: January 30, 2024
Affected vehicles: 2,193,869
Component: Electrical system
This one wasn’t just for the Tesla Cybertruck. Affected vehicles included the 2012-23 Tesla Model S, 2016-24 Model ABS warnings were too small, making them too difficult for the driver to read.
To fix the problem, Tesla released a free over-the-air update so owners don’t have to take their Teslas to a dealer to get an official fix.
Unintentional acceleration due to a jammed pedal
Date of recall: April 17, 2024
Affected vehicles: 3,878
Component: Vehicle speed control
This was certainly the largest recall for the Cybertruck and affected Cybertrucks manufactured from November 13, 2023 to April 4, 2024. The NHTSA said in a report that the accelerator pedal on some Tesla Cybertrucks could become loose and become trapped by the interior panel, causing the vehicle to accelerate uncontrollably. Drivers could stop unintentional acceleration by pressing and holding the brake pedal, which cuts off power to the vehicle’s electric motors.
Tesla owners had to take their Cybertrucks to the dealer, where technicians repaired or replaced the accelerator pedal assembly for free. According to the NHTSA reportThe problem was caused by lubricant accidentally introduced during the manufacturing process, which caused the pad to fall off the pedal assembly and become stuck. After the repair there was no longer any risk of the pedal getting stuck.

The front windshield wiper may fail
Date of recall: June 19, 2024
Affected vehicles: 11,688
Component: Visibility
According to Tesla and the NHTSA, a faulty component occasionally provided excessive power to the windshield wiper motor controller. The excessive current would eventually lead to engine failure. Once the motor burned out, the windshield wiper was inoperable until repaired.
The issue affected Tesla Cybertrucks manufactured from November 13, 2023 to June 6, 2024, a total of 11,688 units. To fix the problem, owners were encouraged to take their Teslas to the dealer, where the wiper motor was replaced with one without the component defect.

An improperly glued trunk lining can come off
Date of recall: June 19, 2024
Affected vehicles: 12,150
Component: structure
This recall occurred the same day as the windshield wiper issue. Tesla said that on some Cybertrucks, a cosmetic appliqué on the truck, called a sail appliqué, was incorrectly applied. The appliques are attached to the frame of the truck with an adhesive, and on some models the adhesive was not attached properly. The result is that over time the trim piece could become loose or even fall off, posing a danger to other drivers on the road.
Cybertruck owners have been asked to take their trucks to the dealer to have the issue fixed. The repair included replacing any missing trim pieces, using a bonding agent to reinforce the existing bond, and using pressure-sensitive tape to hold the piece in place. Affected trucks were manufactured from November 13, 2023 to May 26, 2024.
The rear camera image may not be displayed
Date of recall: September 26, 2024
Affected vehicles: 27,185
Component: Back to prevention
The Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard states that a backup camera must display an image within 2 seconds of shifting into reverse. Under certain conditions, the vehicle system may not complete the shutdown process before expected to restart. This creates a delay that may result in the backup camera not showing anything for more than 2 seconds, which is against federal regulations.
Similar to the incorrect font size recall, Tesla was able to fix this issue with a free over-the-air update, eliminating the need for owners to return to the dealer to make corrections. Those affected include Cybertrucks that were manufactured between November 13, 2023 and September 14, 2024.
An inverter error can result in loss of drive power
Date of recall: November 5, 2024
Affected vehicles: 2,431
Component: Electrical system
This was Tesla’s second recall affecting the Cybertruck’s electrical system. This was caused by faulty metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors, also called MOSFETs and common in modern vehicles. A small number of Cybertrucks had faulty versions of these transistors in the drive inverter, which could cause the inverter to fail. The failure resulted in the trucks no longer producing torque and thus simply stopped moving. The NHTSA investigation found that there were no warning signs before the failure and therefore a failure could occur at any time.
The solution requires Tesla Cybertruck owners to go to the dealer where the inverter was replaced, free of charge. This recall is relatively new, so owners have not yet been officially informed by Tesla. The ownership notification date is scheduled for the first week of January 2025. Affected trucks were manufactured between November 6, 2023 and July 30, 2024.
Tire pressure warning light problem
Date of recall: December 17, 2024
Affected vehicles: 694,304
Component: Tires
Tesla is remember Almost 700,000 vehicles of 16 different car models due to a problem with the tire pressure monitoring system. The recall affects the 2024 Cybertruck and 2017-2025 Model 3 and 2020-2025 Model Y vehicles. accordingly the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The warning light that monitors tire pressure may not be on continuously, meaning the driver may not know that their tire pressure is low. This can increase the risk of an accident. Tesla is releasing a free over-the-air software update to fix the issue. Owners of the affected cars will receive notification letters by mail from mid-February 2025.
