Road accidents in Morocco’s urban areas killed 26 people last week

Rabat – According to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), 26 people were killed and 2,786 injured, 103 of them seriously, in the 2,140 traffic accidents that occurred in urban areas between January 6 and 12.

These accidents are mainly due to driver inattention, lack of right of way, speeding and failure to maintain a safe distance, as DGSN emphasized in a press release.

With regard to the control and enforcement of traffic violations, according to the same source, the security services issued 52,919 traffic tickets, filed 9,241 reports with the public prosecutor’s office and collected 43,678 fines totaling MAD 9.6 million.

The DGSN also reported the confiscation of 5,395 vehicles, the revocation of 9,241 driving licenses and the decommissioning of 274 vehicles.
