Slot pays tribute to Accrington Stanley before praising Liverpool’s ‘quality difference’
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot believes the “difference in quality” earned his side a place in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
The Reds defeated second division side Accrington Stanley and emerged 4-0 winners.
Federico Chiesa scored his first goal for Liverpool, while Trent Alexander-Arnold was also on the scoresheet despite being linked with a move to Real Madrid.
After the game, Slot said: “I think they showed their style of play, which is a big compliment.”
“They played the same style as always. In the end, of course, the difference in quality makes a big difference for us, but I congratulate them on their performance today.
“Trent didn’t have his best game against Manchester United but he was so good for us for the rest of the season – I liked his performance today.

“Our fans have always been very supportive of him. He didn’t play well once, but the fans reacted to it. If Trent just plays what we expect of him, then he will get support.”
On Chiesa, he added: “It’s definitely a good first step, but as much as I liked the way Accrington Stanley played, we have to remember that we’re talking about League Two level.”
“It’s good to have him back on the pitch. He was a threat, but let’s not get carried away.”
16-year-old Rio Ngumoha started for Liverpool, making him the youngest player in the club’s history to ever start an FA Cup game.
He showed quality and impressed Slot with his performance at Anfield.
He said: “He did well. There were a few moments where fans could see why we think he’s a talent. He is good in one-on-one situations.
“He showed a little more in the first half than in the second. It’s nice to make your debut and get the win. It’s a special day for him.”
