Swedish national wanted for assault with weapons arrested in Morocco
Bab Sebta – According to security sources, Moroccan police at the Bab Sebta checkpoint on Thursday arrested a Swede who is wanted on an international arrest warrant issued by the Swedish judicial authorities for his alleged involvement in the possession of offensive weapons for criminal purposes.
A check of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) database revealed that the 19-year-old suspect is wanted under a red notice issued by the Stockholm National Central Office.
The suspect was taken into police custody until he was transferred to the responsible public prosecutor’s office. Meanwhile, the National Central Office “Interpol Rabat Office”, under the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), has been tasked with informing its Swedish counterpart about this arrest as part of the extradition process, the same source said.
This arrest is part of Morocco’s commitment to the implementation of international security cooperation mechanisms, particularly in the prosecution and arrest of persons internationally wanted for transnational crimes.
