Here’s what reportedly happened to Marjorie Jane Hible
Accordingly Northern News now, Hible was a resident of Boundary Waters Care Facility. Emergency crews were reportedly dispatched to the area at approximately 4:38 p.m. on Monday, January 6th. According to the outlet, a witness reported a fire at the location.
Additionally, the report states that Hible’s scooter “burst into flames” while she was sitting outside the facility. Hible was reportedly “completely enveloped” before staff could get her off the scooters.

According to the outlet, Hible suffered severe burns from the incident. She was also transported to Ely Hospital before being airlifted to a hospital in Duluth, where she died.
Northern News Now adds that the state fire marshal is continuing to investigate the fatal incident. However, preliminary reports seem to indicate that “smoking was likely the cause of this accidental fire.”
Finally, the outlet points out that outside of Hible, an employee at the Boundary Waters Care Facility also suffered injuries. However, their case was not life-threatening and they were eventually released from the hospital.
