Measles: 41 cases registered in prisons

According to the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR), about 41 cases of measles have been recorded in the Kingdom’s prisons.

The administration reports 23 cases in the local prison of Tangier 2, including two officers, 7 in the local prison of Mohammedia, 05 in the local prison of Ain Bourja, 02 in the central prison of Kenitra, 02 in the local prison Bourkaiz of Fez and a single case was reported in registered in the local prisons of Tétouan and El Kelaâ des Sraghna.

“Given the seriousness of the situation, the delegation calls on the families of detainees and their relatives who have the right to visit them to comply with preventive measures to limit the risk of the spread of this viral disease to residents of penal institutions by avoiding visits.” as soon as the first symptoms appear,” she said in a press release. Suspected cases have been quarantined in order to carry out the necessary laboratory analyzes while providing them with appropriate care in coordination with the relevant health services in accordance with the current protocol, emphasizes the DGAPR, noting that prisoners can take part in a voluntary vaccination campaign against measles and staff of correctional facilities under the supervision of medical personnel subordinate to these services.
